Oil and man

For those who practise sport olive oil can keep them fit and at the maximum of their energy.

It is fundamental also for babies and elderly people as it limits the loss of bone calcium and is very digestible. Extra virgin olive oil is notable for its fragrance and its taste that make it stand out amongst all other vegetable oils and make it particularly pleasant to the palette.

  • It is extremely easy to digest as it stimulates gastroenteric secretions thus helping the body to digest better;
  • It provides protection for the mucous membranes in the stomach. It has specific emollient properties which protect, reduce inflammation and stimulate the following organs:

1) the mucous membrane that covers the internal surface of the stomach and intestine;

2) the liver for increased production of bile;

3) the gall bladder that brings bile to the intestine;

4) the pancreas for the production of greater quantities of digestive enzymes. It can provide effective protection against gastritis and gastric ulcers.

  • Guarantees that the body receives the right dose of linoleic acid;
  • Has positive action against diseases of the biliary ducts;
  • Does not clog the arteries as it contributes to reducing the access of cholesterol to the blood by stimulating biliary secretions;
  • Allows better absorption of vitamins, in particular vitamin E;
  • Performs regulating action on the intestine against peristalsis that can be effective against atonic and spastic constipation of irritable colon;

Its acidic composition makes it particularly suitable for feeding infants as it is very similar to the composition of maternal fat;

  • In old age when absorption problems with a lack of vitamins and minerals are not uncommon , olive oil is useful both for its ease of digestion that enables better absorption of fat-soluble vitamins, and for its bland laxative properties that often correct atonic associated with this stage of life;

  • It is an excellent frying oil as its critical temperature – where molecules become deformed – is about 210-220 degrees. It does not modify, if only to a very small degree, its own composition of fatty acids after being heated to 200°c for 3 hours. Generic vegetable oils see the formation of peroxides and polymers that can cause injury to the liver, the kidneys, the stomach and to the cardiovascular system
